Small on purpose. Senior on purpose.

Vantage Point Marketing is one person. Nick, in Melbourne. That is not a stage on the way to becoming an agency, it is the design.

Over 10 years in marketing, across many different industries. Long enough to notice that the same handful of problems keep turning up in different clothes, and that the service a business asks for is often not the one it needs.

He has also run his own businesses, with his own money on the line. Paying for a campaign out of your own account in a quiet month teaches you things a client budget never will. It is the reason the work here starts with a diagnosis rather than a proposal.

Here is the problem with most agencies for a small service business. The experienced person wins your business, then hands you to an account manager, who briefs a coordinator, who assigns a junior or an offshore contractor. Every layer costs money and loses information. You pay senior prices for junior execution and meet monthly to discuss why the report is late.

At Vantage Point the person you talk to is the person in your ad account, your email platform and your analytics. Briefs don't get lost in translation because there is no translation. When something breaks, you contact the person who can fix it.

What you are actually hiring.

Plain facts, no awards wall. This is the whole of it and it is the point:

Over 10 years in marketing

Ads, websites, local search, email, follow-up systems. Enough time on the tools to know which problems are worth spending money on and which ones sort themselves out.

Many different industries

Patterns travel between them. What fills a diary in one trade often works in a clinic, once you understand why it worked in the first place.

Businesses of his own

His own money at risk, his own quiet months, his own decisions about whether an ad spend was worth it. That is a different lens on a client's budget than a monthly spending target.

One operator, start to finish

No account managers, no coordinators, no contractors you never meet. From the first call to the monthly report, it is the same person.

What a vantage point engagement looks like.

A vantage point is high ground you stand on to see the whole field at once. The work is run the same way: look at everything, then fix the thing that matters, in the order that pays.

  1. Look at everything

The first pass covers the whole business, not just the channel you rang about. Where enquiries come from, what happens to them, what you charge, how much work you can take on, and what the site and the ad account are really doing.

  2. Name the constraint

One thing is usually holding the rest back. You get told what it is in plain language, with the reasoning, whether or not it turns into work for Vantage Point.

  3. Say so when it isn't marketing

Sometimes the answer is pricing, the offer, capacity or follow-up. Sending more traffic at a broken process only raises the cost of every job you lose, so you will hear that instead of a retainer.

  4. Fix in order of return

Highest return and lowest effort first, then the next one. Nothing gets built because it happens to be on a service list.

  5. Measure, then move again

Tracking goes in before spend does, so the next decision gets made on numbers rather than opinions. One page a month: what went out, what came in, what changes next.

The honest trade-off.

One operator has finite hours. Vantage Point works with a small number of businesses properly instead of a long list badly. If capacity is full you get a start date, not a slow drip of excuses. And if the job genuinely needs a big team, you will be told that too.

The rules the work runs on.

Four of them, and they hold whether or not it suits the invoice:

Diagnosis before invoice

The problem gets named before anything is sold. If that conversation is all you need, take it and go. It costs nothing.

You own everything

Ad accounts, website, domain, email list, data, all in your name from day one. Leaving should be easy. That it isn't easy elsewhere is exactly why churn-and-burn agencies survive.

Measured or it didn't happen

Every engagement starts with tracking. If a service can't show what it produced, it is better not sold to you at all.

No lock-in contracts

Month to month after the initial build. Systems take time to compound and you will be told so, but you stay because it is working.

Over 10 years of experience, and you get it directly. That is the whole offer.
